Nokia Celebrates 150 Years: A Look Back At The Journey
1985 – 2005
Nokia helped in the development of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) as well as second generation (2G) protocol. Nokia provided the network for first GSM call, which took place on July 1, 1991 using Nokia 1011 mobile phone. The historic call was made by the Prime Minister of Finland.
