WhatsApp has launched a major holiday update, bringing a mix of fun, creative, and practical features to help users connect more easily during the festive season. The new tools enhance calling, chatting, media sharing and Status updates, with many of them already rolling out globally.

One of the biggest additions is missed call messages. If someone doesn’t answer your call, you can now instantly send a short voice or video note based on the type of call you made. It works like modern voicemail, letting friends or family hear from you even when they’re busy.

Group voice chats are also getting better. Users can react with emojis without interrupting the conversation, making chats feel smoother and more expressive. For video calls, a new speaker spotlight feature automatically highlights the person talking, making large group calls easier to follow.

Meta AI-powered image creation now uses improved models from Midjourney and Flux. This means clearer, more realistic visuals when you create images for chats or holiday greetings. WhatsApp is also introducing a tool that turns any photo into a short animated clip for a more playful touch.

On desktop, WhatsApp is adding a media tab that neatly organizes files, links and photos from all your chats in one place. Cleaner link previews also help keep conversations tidy by shortening long URLs.

Status updates are getting more engaging too, with new stickers, music lyrics, question prompts and interactive tap-to-engage options. Channel admins can now ask questions to collect responses from their followers in real time.
