Facebook went viral among people when it was launched but, as Instant Messengers took over a major part of online community, the Company decided to launch its own messaging application. Facebook Messenger enables its users to talk over VoIP and according to facebook, the app will remain free.

Google Hangouts

Internet giant, Google has plethora of applications for its mobile operating system, Android and hangouts is one among them. With the launch of Android 5.0, the company unveiled Hangouts, an application that allows both video and voice based communication. The application is free to use and will remain free for life.
