OpenAI Launches 'Pulse' to Make ChatGPT Proactive

- New Pulse feature gives users AI generated daily briefs while offline
- Currently available only to $200/month Pro subscribers
- Uses memory and app integration to personalize content
OpenAI has launched a new feature called Pulse, aimed at turning ChatGPT from a reactive chatbot into a proactive personal assistant. The tool delivers personalized daily reports even while users are offline making ChatGPT smarter, more useful, and more aligned with how people consume news and information every day.
Pulse is now available exclusively to users on ChatGPT's $200/month Pro plan. It appears as a new tab in the ChatGPT app and works overnight to prepare short AI generated 'cards' covering five to ten key updates. These may include news roundups, personal recommendations, and detailed itineraries. Each card includes sources and links for users to explore further or ask follow up questions in the app.
OpenAI says Pulse is not built to increase screen time, but to deliver helpful summaries efficiently, encouraging users to move on with their day. Users might see a message like “That’s it for today,” instead of endless scrolling making it stand apart from traditional social media feeds.

The system integrates with Google Calendar, Gmail, and other services through “Connectors,” enabling it to scan emails for urgent updates or prepare daily agendas. With memory turned on, Pulse can use past conversations to personalize content for example, suggesting running routes if the user has previously mentioned an interest in running.
Due to its high computational needs, Pulse is only available to Pro users for now, but OpenAI plans to optimize and expand access to Plus subscribers and eventually to all users.
