New-Age Technology Upgrading Construction Industry

New-Age Technology Upgrading Construction Industry

The technological invasion has eased out our lives in every aspect, the construction industry is no exception. This being the most taxing industry which demands high manpower also brings in major responsibility. However, the intervening of technology has simplified the tiring and the most crucial task such as assembling, erection of structures and more could be simplified using the latest technology. Adoption of these technological innovations could cut down the risk taken by humans at the construction site as well as ensure quality construction of architectural structures.

The fast-paced growth of industrial, residential as well as commercial usage has been the driving factor for the construction industry to upgrade its technological utilization to meet its increasing demand. The industry has been digitalized using software, building technology, newer materials, artificial intelligence, and more that has transformed the conceptualize, build and use of our buildings. Additionally, the construction companies could now build cost-effective, more durable, carpet area, smoothly finished walls that need minimal maintenance.

Prefabricated Building

The prefabricated also known as offsite construction has recently gained traction as this type of construction is much simpler and could finish the building works at the earliest. This construction has the practice of manufacturing the pre-designed walls and get them fixed at the construction location by assembling the varied components of a structure brought from the manufacturing site assembled at the construction site. This form of construction is considered as the low-end and mass-produced mode of construction, but in reality, it could be the contrast as it requires meticulous planning and detailing as well as a greater eye for quality and precision.

The prefabricated construction is of two categories Pre-engineering buildings and Pre-cast construction. These structures are fabricated and are brought to the site and assembles to the final form. However, traditionally the steel structural members are combined with composite metal panels and other wall and roof systems. The PEB systems are largely used in industrial construction as well as warehouses. These prefabricated buildings are quick to build, environment friendly as well as ensures building quality.

Aluminum Shuttering

Although aluminum shuttering has been introduced in India more than a decade ago, its usage was very minimal. But, the up-gradation of technology has paved the way for the usage of this technique. Aluminum shuttering increases the overall cost of the construction but minimizes the building time that would enable the developers to start sales at the earliest than ever planned. Where the timely delivery of the project is one of the most crucial requirements of the builders as they have a deadline to hand over the property to the customers on time. In conventional building techniques, the transportation of the required raw materials such as bricks, wastage of material, and more makes the traditional construction more expensive than aluminum shuttering.

This construction technology is repetitive saves time and speeds up the market project. This mode of construction could eliminate block or brickwork for the construction of walls. This gives the desirable smooth finish to the wall than the brick walls and assures easy maintenance of the building.

Building Information Modelling (BIM)

BIM is more like CAD (computer-aided design). It is a software for 3D design to digitally model what is planned to be built. This technology along with creating a visually appealing 3D model of your building it also creates numerous layers of metadata and renders them within a collaborative workflow. As of now, 32.7 percent of builders are using BIM/CAD software.

Using BIM enables space for better collaboration because each person and expertise area can add their piece to the same model, instead of breaking out onto multiple versions of a 2D paper drawing. This way, the model evolves immediately as people contribute, streamlining the process and increasing efficiency.

Drywall Systems

The drywall technique is used on the interior walls. These systems have been around for a while and have been used in certain types of interiors but are now slowly gaining traction in the mass building as well. The construction walls could be faster, easier, and cleaner. Thus, the labor force requirements could be cut down with no compromise on the building as well.

Lately, the construction industry has been witnessing major inflation in the past decade and is also expected to grow further. However, the country is also relying on the construction industry for the major spike in the country's economy. Thus, the adoption of technology would elevate the industry's pace of growth and support the country's economic growth.
