Mobile Apps: Simplifying School Administration and Addressing Safety Concerns


BENGALURU: Today, in the education sector the use of apps is becoming more and more prominent in-order to help improve safety of children and school administration. As such, the education market is witnessing slew of apps based on knowledge ecosystem to provide varied range of services such as alerts in case of emergency, event calendars and reminders, attendance through a phone swipe and online payment of fees.

Such importance for student applications can be related to growing concern among parents and institutions about safety of their students. The poor state of road traffic and aggravating law and order of state adds to the dismal state of affairs. All along, a prosperous vision to utilize technology for improving child’s engagement in studies boosts the technology curve in the arena of education.  

As a result of this rising demand, a number of start-ups are coming into market these days for offering services to schools, as a not-for-profit venture in India.

Tracking Child’s Safety through App:

ItsMyChild, AppAlert, Trackschoolbus, and Northstar are few prominent apps that enable teachers and parents to keep track of their students and children’s physical safety.

For example, ItsMyChild is an app that consists of several options such as school notifications, find a doctor, ping my child, find my child to assist parents in locating their child via single click. Developed by entrepreneur Adris Chakraborty and tech professional Animikh Sen, the app facilitates managing child’s health records, academic achievements, and special moments at school. On the other hand, apps such as AppAlert, Trackschoolbus and Northstar allow real-time tracking of school buses with a roll-call feature.
