Keysight Technologies and MeitY's SAMEER Collaborate on Healthcare and 6G R&D

Keysight Technologies entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) to cooperate in Research and Development (R&D) in the areas of healthcare and 6G network technology. Keysight is a network testing, measurement, and assurance solutions provider, whereas SAMEER is a leading R&D centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in India.
As part of the partnership, Keysight and SAMEER have suggested setting up a Healthcare Centre of Excellence (CoE), as well as a research laboratory to drive 6G communication research.
As per the agreement, Keysight will facilitate SAMEER in establishing and showcasing fully functional labs supporting 6G research and development in multiple Indian institutions. The two companies also plan to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in healthcare with an aim to develop magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies, as per an ET Telecom report.
"We are spearheading 6G research in India following the successful demonstration of our end to end 5G stack and IIT Madras. The proposed collaboration with Keysight will further augment this and allow Indian research and academic institutions to have access to next-generation technologies", says P Hanumantha Rao, Director-General at SAMEER, according to the report.
"Creating a center of excellence and establishing 6G research domains is an important step in propelling innovation in India. This collaboration will be proud to offer the much-needed technology and infrastructure that will power future research in healthcare and other industries", says Sudhir Tangri, Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales and Country General Manager of India at Keysight.
SAMEER's contributions to healthcare include the development of a fully indigenous Linear Accelerator (LINAC) for cancer therapy and an affordable, fully functional 1.5T MRI system. The agreement will enable Keysight to help democratize these innovations across India by leveraging SAMEER's products, while both organizations continue collaborative research by complementing each other's strengths.
