BANGALORE: From all the excitement and the happiness revolving around the new iPhone 6 devices, there was no word on the Apple’s ‘ibooks’ or the Apple’s eBook business at the launch, reports Forbes.

Apparently, about 800 million iOS users can install the iOS 8. As far as the iBooks are concerned, this would be the first version of the iOS that will come installed prior with the Apple iBookstore. According to Apple, 150 million devices already have iBooks, which means there will be close to 650 million devices with access to it the first time. Back then when iOS 7 was launched, about 90 percent of devices installed it where a company spokesperson said. If the number holds true a year from now for the iOS users who don’t have iBooks already, that’s 585 million devices that will have iBooks that didn’t before.

But the question is how many users will pay for the service? That’s the big question for iBooks and for ebook publishers who are aware of the Amazon’s growing power in the market and would like to see a competitor rise. On the other hand, Apple did not give an actual estimate as to how many new iBooks customers it hopes to rope in but the point is even a small rate could mean more paying customers on the iBooks store. To publish a book which is a business about finding audiences for it, even the small ones where hundreds of books get published every year would be of good news to the company when its published on the iBooks.

However on the bright side, Apple is also giving away free ebooks to attract new readers to it which is titled with the most popular authors like James Patterson( The Alex cross series) and many more on the iBooks.
