The applications of VR in space exploration and astronaut training are limitless. NASA researchers have been using VR to help human operators control robots outside Earth’s atmosphere and Extra-Vehicular Activities training that prepares astronauts for space walks. The agency is now pursuing a program called the Mighty Morphenaut which puts an operator in the shoes of a robot in space. VR headsets enable operators to see what the robot “sees” and allow them to control the robot using a controller.
