Once these messages reach Google, it is believed that there is no much security given to it when compared to iMessaging.

In fact, iMessaging secures the messages and provides confidentiality to its users, whereas it comes to No-technical readers Google Hangouts get encrypted/coded in between your computer and Google servers, once the message is sent. This gives Google full access to your confidential data, which is in a way depriving you of your right to privacy.
