Will Smartphones Collapse PC Brigade in Future?

ARM chipBANGALORE: Did we ever think of replacing our personal computer completely with a small device like smartphone? Well, ARM is on its way there to kill personal computers.

The British chip-design company, whose chips are seen in every smartphone we ever know, recently produced more-powerful chips – the Cortex-A72 processor and Mali-T880 graphics chip, that are expected to debut in the Smartphones of 2016 reports cnet.com.

This new innovation could help people to be more productive with their phones, using them to write or edit longer stories or produce videos. This means we don’t need to go to our laptops or desktops often. Eventually, ARM’s aim is to narrow the gap in the experience between the smartphone and PC, further replacing PCs with Smartphones as we choose the handy and portable device.

“I think innovation is accelerating in the phone space. We think the phone is becoming the primary compute platform.” said Ian Ferguson, executive of ARM in a conference.

In addition to that, ARM claims the new chips will provide a push in energy efficient and phone producers to manufacture thinner devices that will last longer.
