4. Aakash Tablet

After Tata Nano, this is Aakash that broke the myth that technology is not cheap and is out of reach from a common man. Aakash will bridge the digital divide gap in India and sooner will reach the mission to connect 400 universities and 25,000 colleges throughout the country.

Aakash  is an Android based tablet-computer designed and developed by IIT Rajasthan and other institution jointly including UK based company Data Wind. This project was headed by Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO of DataWind. The original prototype came in 2010 and was formally launched on 5th October 2011 by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal.

5. Smart Cane

Developed at the IIT Delhi lab by Dr. Rohan Paul, the aim behind the smart cane is to facilitate movement for the visually impaired. This device can identify knee-height obstructions at a distance of 3 metres, and is available for 3000.

6. Tata Swach water purifier

Tata Swach does not require running water, electricity or boiling to produce clean water and it is cheaper than boiled water, bottled water. Tata Swach is also considerably cheaper than its nearest competitor Hindustan Lever's Pureit filter.

After launching the Nano, Tata group now has set its eyes on the water purifying business as it wants to save the lives of millions, who suffer due to waterborne diseases caused by drinking polluted water. Tata Swach meaning clean in Hindi is a low cost water purifier targeted at the low income group and rural markets.
