One of the high budget acquisition of the IT sector that focused on outsourcing services providers. The deal created big difference to HP as it expanded its business and is now serving as a close contender to IBM standing second in position. AMR Research director, Dana Stifler said, "I see [the acquisition] as an attempt by HP to really go head to head with IBM in a much more meaningful way, especially in technology services and IT outsourcing.”
Oracle & People Soft, 2005
Oracle nailed People Soft for an approximate value of $10.3 billion in early 2005. Oracle CEO Larry Elison had spoken about the transaction as, "Today we announced both a great quarter and the agreement to acquire PeopleSoft. This merger gives Oracle even more scale and momentum.” Initially People Soft had rejected their $24 per share offer and thus Oracle lifted the value to $66 for the same.
