The internet giant that started its journey as a search engine now offers numerous internet-related services including cloud computing, softwares, and online advertising technologies. Moreover it made its golden moves by developing Android operating system for smartphones.

Although Google competes in a lot of areas, more than 90 percent of its revenue comes from advertising, but still Google has spent almost $1 billion on alternative energy research, again, it's not necessarily core to Google's business, but it's pretty nice for everyone else on earth.

Not every tech- monster has taken such daring step; probably that is why 12 out of the top 50 firms have a belief and respect for Google as a worthy competitor.

7. Samsung Electronics

From TV's to Blu Ray players, smartphones, computers, even refrigerators Samsung is one of the best in every tech category. The flagship company of the Samsung Group, Samsung Electronics is one of the biggest information technology companies in the world. They even fabricate their own chips.

It is the world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones and smartphones fueled by the popularity of its Samsung Galaxy line of devices. It has sales networks in 80 countries and employs around 370,000 people.
