BENGALURU: The web is full of social destinations where people come together to answer questions, discuss news and share interesting information. Facebook, Twitter, Google, Youtube, LinkedIn, pinterest and whatsapp are some of the sites mostly used by people. Even though we know a lot about these social media networks, sometimes we remain unaware of some interesting features of those sites that can be very helpful to us so, if you are curious enough to know then here are some of the social media apps you might not be using, reports Rediff.com.

Facebook:

Modify How You Appear on Public Search: If you are cautious about revealing your past details in public, there is a quick way of making your profile private. By this you can change the preference of your shared posts from public to only friends. In privacy settings there is an option called, “limit the audience for past posts”. Clicking on that one can turn off the privacy settings to just ‘friends only’, so none of the general public or friend of friends will be able to see it.

Change Your Voice: There is a new tab at the Facebook page’s menu bar called voice. It gives you the option of liking, commenting and interacting as a page or yourself.

Change your username: Facebook has now made it convenient for the users to change the username. A user can easily change the URL directly from the page. But it should be noted that a person can change it only once. To change the URL one has to log into the Facebook page and then click on edit page ,add info ,basic information and then change username.

Blocks ads: It is extremely annoying to see one’s page bombarded with unwanted ads. Thankfully AdBlock Plus has been introduced to block all those ads.

Twitter:

Tag limited people in a tweet: Twitter now allows 10 people to be tagged once a tweet or a picture is uploaded. These tagging options can be found just below the compose box.

Mute an account: If someone is not at all interested in any particular account’s personal details or if one is getting too much spam newsfeed, one can mute that account, instead of not following. A similar option is also available in Facebook and Google plus to hide or mute the unnecessary posts coming from any account.

Organize your tweets: If you are a disciplined person, Twitter has introduced a new app called Collections, a new kind of timeline on twitter, just for you. Collections help in managing the tweets, arranging them and in delivering them in the platform the way you like it, in a sorted way.
