Melissa:  This virus is pretty personal because it was named after a stripper from Florida by David Smith who created the virus. How the virus worked was that it would mail itself into the first fifty ids in the user’s mail book and then cripple the server hence increasing mail traffic. It would also corrupt documents with references to Simpsons.

Conficker:  The virus gets its name from English and a German word configure and pejorative respectively. The virus worked by infecting computers through cracks in OS of windows, creating a botnet. The worm was so powerful that it caused damage worth more than $9 billion. It had crippled governments, businesses and individual computers. This malware was one of the most feared viruses. After infecting computers the virus would change lockout policies. Once this is done and a botnet is placed it would then scam money from the user.

PoisonIvy: If a malware is considered a nightmare then it surely is something to be wary about, and that is exactly what PoisonIvy is. This malware is pretty interesting because it allows the victimizer control the victim’s computer. The victimizer can control and manipulate the documents or record and look through the person’s life though the computers video and audio outlets. This virus was traced back to the company Symantec and launched from China.

Fizzer: A virus that was created to scam and earn money. When a computer was infected with Fizzer it would send out pharmacy spam. It acted on the same line as Code Red but for financial gains. It would attack the mail of the user and then send mails that were related to porn and pills spam of recent times. It also created other viruses like SoBig that Microsoft placed a bounty of 250,000 dollars for the person who finds the creators of the virus.
