Google Search Allows Tweets On Mobile Devices

NEW YORK: Google has allowed tweets for smartphones and tablets users in its search engine.

"Starting Tuesday, we are bringing Tweets to Google Search on mobile devices. So now when you're searching on the Google app or any browser on your phone or tablet, you can find real-time content from Twitter right in the search results," said Google in its blog post.

"Whether, you're interested in the latest from Taylor Swift, news about the #MadMenFinale, or updates on the NBA playoffs, you'll have access to it directly from Google," it further read.

"Let's use NASA as an example -- just ask the Google app about "NASA Twitter," and in the search results, you'll see Tweets from @NASA," it added.

Twitter and Google inked the deal in February to give Google access to the half billion daily tweets and show them in search results.

To begin with, the service is available on Google.com in English in the Google app (on Android and iOS) and on mobile browsers, rolling out gradually.

"We are working on bringing it to more languages and to desktop, so stay tuned," the blog post read.

Ardan Arac, senior product manager for Google, wrote: "It is a great way to get real-time info when something is happening. And it is another way for organisations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments."
