BENGALURU: YouTube seems to be becoming more sensible and understanding just like parents. Parents generally have the trouble of switching on parental codes and locks, in order to keep their kids away from unwanted material on YouTube. To make it easy, YouTube is launching ‘You Tube for Kids’ that will run only kids friendly content, reports Engadget.

This app is going to be released on 23^rd February at children’s entertainment industry conference. The screen opens up into eight large tiles, each available with kid friendly content like videos of cats, Minecraft, Thomas the Tank Engine, LeVar Burton’s Reading Rainbow, and National Geographic’s videos. Many musical options and educational programs will also be available alongside being able to search for the top ranked videos.

The project’s group product manager Shimrit Ben Yair said that images and tap targets are big for the small fingers and voice search option for kids who are too young to type. Even a viewing timer is set, so that parents can fix a routine for kids to watch their favorite stuff as well as study and exercise on their scheduled timings. If time runs out, password is needed to restart it after each video, so that kids can’t access the standard YouTube.
