Why Apple AirPods is considered as 'Apple's Product of the Decade'?
The Cupertino-based tech giant has been a leading figure in this decade, especially in releasing gadgets such as iPad, Apple Watch and more. But it was Airpods, which has been strongly competing against the iPhone since the launch back in 2015. It has experienced an extraordinary turnaround recently with the hype.
According to Apple, it just cut the cord from its EarPods and made the AirPods. It created a new category of truly wireless headphones or earbuds, which suddenly became a trendsetter in the gadget world. As per the research conducted by Counterpoint Research, Apple recorded a massive 60 percent market share in the wireless headphones market. However, Apple products (except the Watch) usually take time to settle in, but AirPods were almost everywhere.
The launch of AirPods brought all the other players like Amazon and Microsoft to enter the game at the earliest. It was in 2019 when Apple launched two variants of the AirPods and since then the popularity of AirPods rose significantly and everyone wanted to own a piece of the trending wireless earbuds. AirPods became a threat to the already established audio brands such as Sony, Bose, and others and already broke the record for the sales and the number of devices shipped every month.
With the rise in AirPods in the market, it is now one of the most ‘copied’ products in the market. In terms of look, design and more, the market is now flooded with copies of AirPods. The wearables industry saw record growth in the third quarter of 2019, largely thanks to growing interest in wireless earbuds. The wireless earbuds outpaced the smartwatches and wristbands, as it doubles the growing interest in wireless earbuds. Rivals like Samsung and Fitbit focused more on smartwatches and fitness trackers, then now feeling the trouble as audio products are growing enormously. The earwear category grew by 242.4 percent year-over-year, while wristbands only grew by 48.6 percent and smartwatches by 48 percent, according to IDC. For Apple, it isn’t slowing down the production anytime soon as the wearables are more important than ever for the company.
