Tata Communications to Harness Sovereign AI for Business Expansion

Tata Communications, in collaboration with AI solutions provider CoRover.ai, will leverage Sovereign AI to enhance its B2B digital solutions business. The partnership combines Tata Communications' Sovereign Cloud and digital infrastructure with CoRover.ai’s conversational and generative AI solutions. These technologies will be deployed across various government departments and enterprises, supporting a range of functions to drive innovation and improve efficiency in India’s digital ecosystem.
Sovereign AI refers to a nation’s ability to develop artificial intelligence using its own infrastructure, data, workforce, and business networks. This collaboration aims to strengthen data sovereignty, ensure cultural relevance, and maintain regulatory compliance within India’s digital ecosystem. As calls for data localization grow, particularly with the implementation of the Digital Private Data Protection Act (DPDP Act), businesses will increasingly seek enterprise solutions, such as data management and storage, that utilize Indian-origin digital infrastructure to meet legal requirements and ensure compliance with the country's regulations.
Neelakantan Venkataraman, Vice President and Global Head of Cloud and Edge Business at Tata Communications, says FE “As India pursues its Digital India vision, Tata Communications’ expertise in sovereign cloud infrastructure and platform along with CoRover.ai’s industry-first conversational AI capabilities will be a major stride in building a robust AI ecosystem that’s tailored not only to meet current demands but anticipate future needs,”
He stated that the firm is already in discussions with various Central and State government departments to implement these solutions, with some in the pilot phase and ready for expansion. He further highlighted that the partnership is targeting multinational corporations (MNCs) and foreign companies that handle Indian data. Given the rising importance of data localization and stricter data privacy regulations in India, data sovereignty has become crucial for businesses operating in the country. The collaboration is positioning itself to help these enterprises meet the evolving legal and operational demands for data security and compliance. “Though, we plan to take the solutions to all government agencies and enterprises with equal focus,” he says.
Ankush Sabharwal, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CoRover.ai, says “CoRover is proud to be the first Indian company to launch Sovereign AI for India,”
“Our collaboration with Tata Communications will redefine how Indian enterprises and government institutions harness AI’s potential while retaining control over data and operations within the country,” he added.
