Samsung R&D and IIT Kanpur Collaborate on AI Research and Other Tech
Samsung R&D Institute in Noida has recently entered into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K). This collaboration aims to concentrate on crucial areas of growth, encompassing joint research ventures involving students, faculty from IIT-K, and engineers from Samsung. The research projects will span diverse fields such as health, visual frameworks, B2B security, and advanced technologies like cloud computing and generative artificial intelligence (genAI). The overarching goal is to equip students with industry-relevant skills through these collaborative initiatives.
In addition to research projects, the MoU aims to provide opportunities for upskilling Samsung engineers in key technology areas such as AI, Cloud and other emerging technologies. "This collaboration reflects our dedication towards merging academic excellence with industrial innovation, thereby making students industry-ready", Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director, SRI-Noida, said in a statement.
Within the framework of the collaborative research projects, IIT Kanpur students and faculty will engage in addressing real-world industry challenges, aligning their efforts with current market demands. Additionally, in collaboration with Samsung engineers, they will focus on developing solutions related to Digital India initiatives, as stated by the company. “By combining the academic excellence of IIT Kanpur with the industry expertise of Samsung India, we aim to create a dynamic environment for cutting-edge projects and provide invaluable opportunities for our students and researchers", said Prof. S.
