Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon X2 Chips with Faster Speed & AI Power

- Qualcomm launches Snapdragon X2 Elite & Elite Extreme for Windows laptops
- Up to 75% better CPU performance and major gains in graphics and AI
- Laptops with new chips to launch in the first half of 2026
Qualcomm has unveiled the next generation of its PC chips with the launch of the Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme, designed to power the future of Windows laptops. These chips bring significant upgrades in speed, graphics, AI performance, and power efficiency.
The spotlight is on the X2 Elite Extreme, Qualcomm’s most powerful laptop chip yet. Built on a 3nm process, it uses the latest Oryon CPU architecture with 18 cores, two of which can hit 5GHz, a first for Arm based CPUs. Qualcomm says this chip can deliver up to 75% faster performance than competitors at the same power level.
Graphics also get a big upgrade. The improved Adreno GPU now runs at 1.85GHz, with a special 18MB high speed cache called 'Adreno High Performance Memory'. While Arm gaming on Windows still needs work, Qualcomm says this will improve gameplay in supported titles.
On the AI front, the new Hexagon NPU reaches 80 TOPS, the highest for any laptop NPU, offering 37% better AI performance while using 16% less power. Apps like Photoshop and Lightroom are expected to see faster edits and exports.

Power efficiency remains a key feature. Qualcomm says laptops with the new chips could last for multiple days on a charge, even with higher power draws.
Connectivity stays strong with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G support. Partner brands like Razer are joining the ecosystem, though laptops featuring these new chips will only arrive in early 2026.
