Online Travel Agencies On Their Toes As Google Introduces " Flight Search "

BANGALORE: Online travel industry in India has tough competition ahead of it as the massive search engine Google initiated its own Flight search tool. Following this introduction, dream destinations would just be just a click away with easy access to the prices, durations and other related information of different flights to various destinations for the day, says Business Standard.

Google launches flight search in IndiaWith regards to this new tool from Google, the flight search delivers the service to its users for finding and booking for flights conveniently through their favored search engine. Also clicking on date field features the lowest available prices for flights each day. Live fares are instantly available once the map is expanded for decided dates. Swing in the prices may also be predicted for the rush and festive seasons. In addition, the tool suggests best possible deals on the basis of preference, convenience and fares and the most suitable time to fly to certain destinations.

Apart from being assisted by Jet Airways, Google also has a tie up with Goibibo.com and several other online travel agencies for this feature. “Giving our guests access to our flights for bookings through Flight Search will offer another convenient channel to shop for and book flights via their preferred search engine. This is just one more way we’re collaborating with Google on new and innovative technologies.”, said Gaurang Shetty, senior vice-president, commercial, Jet Airways.

Having no expectations for the growth of this model, Subramanya Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer at Cleartrip, said, “We think this will have limited success in the Indian market, as the consumer pricing on the air market is fairly homogenous across airlines and OTAs. Also, most of the trusted OTA service brands are not present in the Google Fight search product and, hence, the service outcomes for consumers might be different from what they have been experienced so far.”
