BENGALURU: Are you the owner of the universally liked Moto G handset? If so it looks like you would get lucky in the coming days. The must-awaited and the latest Android L 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system will first be made available to the Moto handsets, especially the G series ahead of the Nexus devices, reports Andrew Cunningham of Ars Technica.

Google had made earlier pronouncements that the Android L 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system will first be made available on its Nexus Smartphones, but that may not be happening anytime soon. And it’s reported that Affordable Motorola handsets are set to get the taste of Lollipop first.

According to Ars Technica, it won’t be the high-end handset or a Nexus that would receive the first get the Android 5.0 update, in fact it will be the second-generation Moto G which will be the first phone to receive a final version of the update.

As of now there are no updates available for the first-generation model from late 2013, but it’s expected that other phones, including the second-generation Moto X and the LG G3, have made steps toward a Lollipop update.

The highest on the list that the new updatewill be is what Google calls “Material Design”. It’s a flatter design than what most of us are used to, but it makes extensive use of shadows and 3D views to make on-screen elements distinct from one another. The others features include new UI, lock screen notifications, multi-user support, battery saver, watch face, new brightness modes and many more.
