Most Encountered Marshmallow Setbacks Resolved
Bangalore: The Marshmallow update 6.0.1 brings ample of new features and enhancements to its Nexus users. Though there were a lot of good things about Marshmallow in Android 6.0 and Android 6.0.1, some tweaks were also required on the issues reported. Google’s testing team eliminated issues during the release but some Marshmallow problems seeped through the cracks directly to the end user. Here are most encountered user reported issues with their fixes which will be helpful to most of the Marshmallow user’s.
Lagging or Hanging: The most experienced problem is lagging and hanging of the device, caused due to some reasons like software glitches or app crashes. User can freeze or hibernate the app to reduce the processes running in the device’s RAM. User can also opt to empty the RAM from task manager by killing the unwanted apps. If the problem still exists, then it’s time to factory reset your Smartphone.
Wireless connection Wi-Fi + Bluetooth: The wireless connection issues of Marshmallow can be fixed by tapping on the wireless network and selecting the ‘Remove and Reconnect’ option. Another option is to Reboot the wireless router for Wi-Fi connection. The user can also change the band frequency of the Wi-Fi in the smartphone by going into the ‘Advanced Wi-Fi Setting’. Toggling the Airplane Mode helps to establish both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
Heating Problem: Continuous running of heavy graphic 3D games for hours or gaming while the charging is going on if these fixes don’t help then there might be some hardware issues. In case the heating issue persists, try ‘Safe Mode Rebooting’
Battery Draining Problem: In some cases the device's battery drains faster after a firmware update. To eliminate this problem, the user can take the back-up of necessary data, and execute a factory reset.
Audio Output: Customize the volume through Settings menu or Factory Reset the device for a better solution. As a temporary solution headphones can be used.
Flashlight remains On: After clicking snap-shots from the camera the flashlight remains on even during the StandBy phase. Safe reboot can be the best fix for the problem which is mostly found in Nexus 5.
Yellow tint on Screen: Users reported of a yellow tint in the screen of their Nexus 5X. Many other smartphones have some kind of color bias. It is necessary to return the smartphone with yellow tint and opt for a new one.
Picture Orientation: App from external providers encountered a rare problem with picture orientation in the latest Marshmallow upgrade. Google developers were notified with the issue and after analysis they found out that the external developers used old version of the Application Program Interface (API).
Issues with recent app switcher: Usually after an update, some apps are prone to crash. It is recommended to install the latest updates and bug fixes or even reinstall the apps for better usability. In case of severity the user has to escalate it to the developer’s forum so that the issue can be analyzed.
GPS Signal: To resolve the frequent signal drop, go to ‘Settings’ menu, choose ‘Options’, tap on ‘Scanning’, the user will be provided with two popup windows, now select ‘Bluetooth Scanning’ to update the location. The user can also change the ‘Location Mode’ in Settings to instantly gain higher accuracy.
