Microsoft Office Apps Are Now Available On Android And iOS
BANGALORE: Microsoft announced that they will allow their widely used apps such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android Smartphone platform, earlier this week. The apps will be available on Google’s online Play Store soon, reports NDTV.
These Microsoft programs are accessible from any number of devices through the service of Internet cloud. The company also declared that these applications are specially built to be used on Android tablets as well as on Apple iPhones and iPads.
Microsoft Office’s Corporate Vice President Kirk Koenigsbauer quoted in his blog, “I'm pleased to announce the general availability of the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps for Android phone.”
He added, "These join our previously released Office apps for Android tablets to complete the Office experience for the millions of Android users around the world."
According to Koenigsbauer, there were positive feedbacks received because of useful features like easy to connect with digital file storage services Box and Google Drive, along with Microsoft's own OneDrive.
Microsoft foresees the future of their apps as it reaches to all major Smartphone platforms. Later, the users will be drawn to subscribe company’s online Office 365 service.
In May 2014, the US software titan rolled out the Office apps for Android devices in Preview state. For the Android users to get their hands on Office apps, they had to sign up to the Microsoft Office for Android community.
The Office apps were introduced in private beta version for Android tablets in last July. Then it was brought to preview stage at the beginning of this year. After some days the apps were made available to the all Android users in the same month.
