Jaguar's New Technology 'Sixth Sense': A Cessation to Accidents
BANGALORE: Engaging to the concept of driver safety and comfort, luxury car maker Jaguar has brought in significant changes to the dimension of driving instilling features that focus on avoiding accidents and atoning to the thought of driver’s safety and luxury. Thanks to the guys from NASA which made the project possible by helping Jaguar adopt this technology on to their cars. The collective feature of this adopted technology is called the sixth sense, reports tweaktown.
Out of the other features in this innovative technology, the ‘mind sense’ plays the role of alerter for the driver who is not focused or sleepy on a long stretch of travel or a night drive. This technology from NASA will improve the concentration skills of the driver, by reading his/her brain waves through the sensors that are embedded in the steering wheel. The Sixth sense works this way: in case you fall asleep or day dream the tech reads your brain waves and alerts you to be focused with a beeping (warning sound). This will help the drivers who are tired or not focused, making them drive safely.

Jaguar has more plans for its luxury class rides, like making sure the driver is cleared to drive the state he/she is in and to augment the drive experience by dulling the lights, playing light music to lighten your mood if you are stressed. Self driving cars are in the loop to become your daily transportation and Jaguar is thinking of installing medical sensors which can assess your health. All these features add to just one part of it, here’s lot more.
The company is planning to implement an upgraded infotainment system which allows you to to select any option on the screen and the computer will predict and do the necessary for you. This technology is still in prototype, the mid-air touchscreen by using cameras will feel and predict the necessary button you want to press. Future versions may make you feel the touch of the press by tricking your brain in to thinking the neuro signals.
As if the goodie bag is endless, Jaguar is also working on a haptic (feel the sense of touch) pedal that will accelerate to your touch and will also vibrate to alert you if the car is speeding over the limit. Surrounded by technology would be an apt way to say the technorides Jaguar is designing, thanks to NASA.
