iPhone App Helps Catch Burglar In U.S.

WASHINGTON: A man in the U.S. has credited his surveillance camera and an app on his iPhone for helping him catch a burglar at his home, a media report said.

Brian Ways, 25, connected a surveillance app, called Nest Cam, installed on his phone to the CCTV camera at his home in Salt Lake City. The app detects motion and sound, and records footage through the camera in his house, ABC News reported.

Ways was pulling into his driveway when he saw all the lights were switched on in his house. He stayed outside and fetched the footage from his camera through the app, the report said.

"In the footage, I saw a woman poking her head in my door saying, 'Hello, hello?' ... I immediately called the police," Ways said.

"When police responded, the suspect was about to leave with property from the home," a policeman was quoted as saying.

A police officer standing outside identified himself and the suspect, Kista Dennett, 38, surrendered. She was arrested and charged with burglary, police said.
