Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is preparing for strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging infrastructure in India. It will build nearly 600 public charging stations in the next seven years. Under this strategy, HMIL will add 50 fast-charging stations to its network by December 2024, further driving forward its commitment to sustainable mobility and India's transition toward clean energy.

To date, HMIL’s charging network has facilitated over 50,000 charging sessions, delivering more than 7.3 lakh units of energy to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV customers. In addition, the company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to set up 100 charging stations by 2027. Ten of these will be operational by the end of 2024, with three already up and running at Spencer Plaza, BSR Mall in Chennai, and Hotel Seasons in Tiruvannamalai.

All EV customers in Tamil Nadu can access these stations 24/7 via the myHyundai app, accelerating the adoption of green mobility.

Studies conducted by HMIL have highlighted that customers are apprehensive about driving their EVs for long-distance commutes on highways due to a lack of charging infrastructure.
