Have You Explored Apple's New Research kit?

Informed Consent

When a participant is enrolled in a research study, he is told what kind of a process he will go through. It is the step that lets a participant know what they are in for and what risks are involved if they choose to take part. With apps, the participant will be shown videos and images of the process.

Population bias

When a research is being done about a specific disease, it is possible that a certain portion of the population is affected by it. Researchers call this population bias. People with iPhone tend to be richer and they may not represent poor people. It remains a possibility that researchers might be able to reach people who live in remote areas with the use of Smartphones.

The Learning Curve is Real

Although, conducting medical research through apps is a new and an innovative way but the study being done by researchers is for good of humanity. The four apps launched by Apple are all approved by institution review board (IRB) and issues like making sure the participant is over 18 is still being worked on.
