Google's Gemini App Adds Visual Editing and AI Content Verification
  • Gemini now allows image editing using Nano Banana with drawing and annotation tools.
  • SynthID verification has been expanded to detect AI-generated content in videos.
  • Updates aim to make AI interactions more intuitive, reliable, and transparent for users.

Google has rolled out a significant update for its Gemini app, enhancing both creative and verification capabilities. The new features allow users to edit images using Nano Banana by drawing, annotating, or adding text directly onto photos.

This visual approach makes it easier for users to guide the AI on specific changes or areas of focus, without relying solely on detailed text instructions. The feature is available across Android, iOS, and the web. First-time users receive a brief introduction to help them navigate the new tools.

Alongside image editing, Gemini now offers extended SynthID verification for videos. Users can upload videos up to 100MB and 90 seconds long to determine whether content was created or modified using Google AI.

The system scans both visuals and audio for SynthID watermarks, delivering detailed insights about which elements are AI-generated. This functionality addresses growing concerns around AI-generated media and enhances transparency, helping creators, businesses, and viewers distinguish between authentic and AI-manipulated content.
