BENGALURU: When you use Google , you actually give them a pass by providing information about yourself when using Google services like Youtube, Google Maps and many more. This information is sold to the advertisers who matches it with perfect advertiser and targets you with the perfect ads.

Apparently, Google uses a lot of techniques to learn about people. The things like name, phone number, location, and more information you give to sign up for the Google services like Gmail and Google Maps or with an Android phone also takes information about what you watch, your internet searches and how you use the Google products.

On the plus side, there is a website called “App settings” which shows exactly what Google knows about you. There are some procedures to be followed – just log on to google.com, go to settings and then Account history. Secondly, roll down to the ads and click on the “Edit Settings”.

This page shows you the entire list of what it knows which includes age, languages you know, and all your interests which includes music genres, sports, cars and their accessories.

However, from this page you can edit the information about yourself or completely opt out of it. This will stop Google to share the information with the advertisers where there will be no more targeted ads from them.
