Finally,'M' Stands For Marshmallow In The Android 6.0
BANGALORE: The end is over, as Google cleared all the rumours and announced the next version of Android OS name. Google always named its Android OS with sweet snacks, once again it is named after a sweet treat and will be called Android Marshmallow, reports BT.
The search giant declared the name on its developers’ blog.
Google has introduced the official Android 6.0 SDK (Software Developer Kit) a while ago and the Play Store will be open for developers to publish their apps according to the new API level 23 in Android Marshmallow.
Jamal Eason, product manager asked in a post on the Android developer blog, "Whether you like them straight out of the bag, roasted to a golden brown exterior with a molten center, or in fluff form, who doesn't like marshmallows?"
Marshmallow was the one among most speculated names for Android ‘M’. There were speculated names such as Muffin, Mud Pie, Mousse, Mars, Mentos and the funniest one – Malai Barfi.
Android M was unveiled at the Google I/O 2015 keynote by Dave Burke, vice-president, engineering, for Android at Google. As the new Android OS hits the market, it will replace existing Android Lollipop.
Google promises the improvements over Lollipop in the new Marshmallow, the new features that highlight are, Doze for battery, Google Now on Tap, Android Pay and Support for Fingerprint, App Permissions and App links.
This time, Android M doesn’t sport any altered material design of the interface from Android Lollipop. According to Google Marshmallow is completely focused on improving the stability and usability of the software and an effort to bring out best user experience.
