The world's top social network Facebook is the latest to join the video streaming rivalry. The social online giant released a new feature called "Live,” intended to enable celebrities and other public figures to stream videos to around 1.5 billion users.
Reboot For Notes
Recently, Facebook had released an updated Notes feature to makes its appearance more like blog posts. This note feature also enhances a font formatting options along with the opportunity to bring in sizable cover photos that goes at the top most part of the post. This includes Photos, headers and lists for its users.
Mentions app to verified users
Broadening the functions of mentions app, Facebook has come up with a fresh new feature for which, users with verified accounts can connect with their followers as well as share content. This feature favors photographers and journalists. Users that are interested in this app can simply fill out online form and then download the app.
Videos go 360-degree
The online social network updated its News Feed that supports 360-degree videos. The feature gives out a complete scene in virtual reality. The company that acquired the VR headset maker Oculus in 2014 had been working with it and has finally come out with the feature.
Make videos as profile picture
Facebook now enables users to upload short video as their profile. Users are also offered with the opportunity to put up a temporary profile picture that goes back to their old picture of a specific moment of time. This feature can be used as a profile picture that supports a particular cause or celebrates an important occasion. Furthermore, it allows user to write descriptive bio that pertains to education and work qualification which will be showcased at the top of their profile.
'Dislike' button comes with a catch
From the time facebook surfaced and hit the internet a large demand in favor of a 'dislike' button has been frequently been requested by user. Hence Facebook answering their prayer has launched a new feature, with a similar concept, but with a more subtle expression such as emotions like "Love," "Haha," "Yay," "Wow," "Sad" and "Angry” that come in a series of expressive reactions.
'Suggested Videos'
Picking up a notch Facebook has brought out the out 'suggested videos' feature which falls towards the YouTube’s territory. The company cited that this feature will display related videos after the user taps into one of the video from their news feed.
Instant Articles
Facebook aims at improving reading mobile phones by making it faster, as in 'Instant'. The company is looking to enhance news stories on the app by improving it as much as 10 times faster. Moreover the Instant Articles is also cited to include image zoom, interactive maps, autoplay videos and audio captions.
Facebook Search gets 'real-time'
Facebook search just got updated with the chance to let users find conversations about recent news shared publicly. This tool offers a chance to get updated on what the internet is engaging in on real time. It also gives an insight on how friends and family are reacting to this news.
Personalized Notification
Facebook is not personalizing notification tab. Up until now updates revolved around posts from friends, birthday alerts and upcoming events. The notifications have now been expanded to accommodate community events and news, weather reports, television programmes and others. The latest notification can be customized according to users preference and interest.
