When technology made its way into our lives, its speed, accuracy and efficiency have influenced us to embrace it. Today, we depend on technology even for the simplest task in our daily lives; in short, we can say that we are totally addicted to technology. But, presently, being fully dependant on technology calls for a regular decluttering, as an unorganized digital workspace can hinder one's productivity. Digital clutter slows down the system, reduces the storage space, and makes the virtual workspace messier and hard to find the stored files.
Delete Unwanted Files
Check all the folders and documents stored in it and delete the documents that would not be required any more. Saving the unwanted files for future reference should be avoided. If it is confusing to decide the disposal of certain files, move those files to an external storage device. Alongside, this can be applied for unwanted software as well, as it occupies a lot of space and eventually slows down the system performance.
Clear your Downloads
Download folder gets a lot messier when not organized frequently. This folder occupies a lot of storage space on your device. Hence, it is ideal to sort the folder and discard all the files that are no longer in use
Clear out the Disk
Run the computer through a disk cleanup and delete all the temporary files. This could speed up and improve the computer's hard drive performance. This clean up could be carried out once a month to avoid the system slow down.
Regular e-mail Clean up
Most of the time, our inbox is flooded with irrelevant and unwanted emails such as advertisements and other spam emails that pile up and waste the storage space unnecessarily. Also, these spam mails would make the inbox clumsy which in turn would make us neglect some important mails. Thus, one should regularly clean-up their inbox and get rid of unwanted mails and unsubscribe from the newsletters that are never read.
Digital declutter could sound silly, but a regular build-up of clutter in the virtual workspace could hinder one's productivity. If it is not sorted it would lag the system cause disturbance. The cluttered system would take more than 15 minutes to start which certainly affects the work and irritates the person as well.
