CSIR - NIIST Partners with NIT-Calicut for Cutting-Edge Research
CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) and the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in research and education. The agreement, signed during the National Technology Day celebrations at CSIR-NIIST, aims to facilitate the exchange of students and faculty in interdisciplinary areas of science and technology.
The MoU was formalized by C. Anandharamakrishnan, Director of CSIR-NIIST, and Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT-C. Anandharamakrishnan emphasized that the partnership will provide significant opportunities for NIT students to engage in research endeavors across various fields including materials science, food technology, biotechnology, chemical sciences, environmental technology, as well as emerging domains like artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Prasad Krishna highlighted the collaborative efforts to offer unique research opportunities for graduate and post-graduate engineering students interested in applied research and development. The collaboration is expected to lead to joint curriculum development for MTech programs, conduct of skill development workshops, and provision of instrumentation training.
CSIR-NIIST, a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is renowned for its advanced R&D expertise spanning diverse domains of science and technology. Through this MoU, both institutions aim to leverage their respective strengths to advance knowledge creation and dissemination, fostering innovation and addressing contemporary challenges.
The partnership signifies a commitment to promoting interdisciplinary research and nurturing talent in cutting-edge technological domains, thereby contributing to the advancement of science and technology on a broader scale.
