Canva Partners with CBSE to Train Educators in Visual Communication & AI Tools
Visual communication platform Canva has joined forces with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to roll out a comprehensive training program for educators across CBSE-affiliated schools in India. The initiative aims to bolster digital creativity skills among principals and teachers, benefiting over 840,000 educators and more than 25 million students in CBSE schools nationwide.
The collaboration, introduced to address the evolving needs of industries, will focus on integrating visual communication and generative artificial intelligence (genAI) tools into classrooms. The first phase will see around 30,000 teachers participating in orientation and workshops, immersing themselves in innovative teaching methodologies. These educators will also be invited to join the 'Canva for Teachers' community, offering continuous opportunities for improving digital storytelling capabilities.
Jason Wilmot, Head of Education at Canva, emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity and design literacy early on, enhancing students' employability. The partnership aligns with CBSE's commitment to providing educators with cutting-edge tools, aiming to save time on design tasks and inspire students toward a new era of creativity and design.
Biswajit Saha, Director (Skilling) at CBSE, expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to equip teachers with new tools and elevate the learning experience in classrooms. The comprehensive series of workshops will showcase the full potential of Canva, demonstrating applications ranging from classroom design thinking to refining educational materials and fostering meaningful engagement.
