Breathe Easy As Google Boosts Privacy Controls For Users
BANGALORE: In response to the growing concerns of users on how the search giant gathers and uses its enormous amounts of data, Google has reportedly increased its privacy control for its user and has also put into operation a new website that answers users frequent questions.
Over the years the need for data control has become an important factor among the users as more and more activities are moved to the internet.
Users have now been given certain rights to control their certain privacy settings like saving web browser and history location which can also be utilized for targeted advertising. However on the down side, operating the controls is a not only confusing task but is also time consuming as the settings are assorted in different places across the web which can be challenging to find, reports Reuters.
Nonetheless users will now be able to utilize ‘My Account’ that ensures a privacy checkup as well as a security checkup and even provides a list in which people can segregate data in public and private settings accordingly. Google’s latest website can also answer questions regarding the companies’ personal data and informational data that is provided for advertisements.
Back in 2013, Edward Snowden disclosed classified documents that were shown to the U.S. National Security Agency who were occupied in mass assemblage of phone records, inserting companies that held a vast amount of data which included Google, Facebook and Apple who were being listed under growing inspection. Although many companies held an enormous amount of data only 9pct of people in a recent Pew survey agreed to have a “lot “of data in their control.
As brought to light through Google announcement at its annual developer’s conference last week, the latest additional app permissions for Android shares a similarity with the app permissions on Apple's iPhones. Thereby it doesn’t permit apps to automatically utilize various types of data which includes phone contacts and location.
