Atlassian launches Free Resource to Encourage Responsible Tech Innovation
Atlassian Corporation, which is a leading provider of team collaboration and productivity software including Jira Software, Confluence, and Jira Service Management, has recently introduced its Responsible Technology Review Template. This template is aimed to assist companies in developing responsible AI and technology practices. The guide is very user-friendly and encourages teams to develop a shared understanding of how their projects might impact employees, customers, and other stakeholders within the community.
Based on Atlassian's Responsible Technology Principles that focus on the responsible use of technology. The resource is intended to help teams identify any misalignments between projects and the company's values or responsible AI/tech principles. This will provide them with an opportunity to make necessary improvements or fixes before products are shipped. Additionally, the resource can be used to evaluate technology that is being built or purchased for internal use.
Erika Fisher, Chief Administrative Officer & Chief Legal Officer, Atlassian, said, “At Atlassian, we know that we have a responsibility to develop and deploy technology responsibly. We also know that experimentation is critical to progress. Neither are mutually exclusive, so we are committed to supporting innovation within safe environments. As we continue to reinforce and invest in that commitment, we hope we can bring others along with us by sharing our insights and learnings. With this template we wanted to present an alternative to the dense and resource-intensive guidance currently available by sharing a method that is equal parts aspirational and accessible to drive critical conversations and risk assessment".
Atlassian has formed a cross-functional Responsible Tech Working Group consisting of representatives from Engineering, Ethics, Human Rights, Sustainability, Privacy, Public Policy, Legal, and DEI teams. Earlier this year, the company launched its Atlassian Intelligence capabilities and also published its Responsible Tech Principles, which guide the company in building and deploying new technologies safely and ethically. These principles serve as the company's North Star in ensuring responsible tech development.
