Air India Introduces AI-Powered Baggage Tracking for Real-Time Updates
Air India has launched an innovative AI-driven feature called 'AEYE Vision' within its mobile app, allowing passengers to monitor their checked baggage in real-time. By scanning their baggage tags, travelers can receive immediate updates on their bags' progress, including when they are loaded, unloaded, and ready for collection at the baggage claim area. This new feature is designed to enhance the passenger experience by addressing recent concerns related to baggage handling.
In addition to baggage tracking, 'AEYE Vision' enables passengers to access flight details, boarding passes, baggage status, and meal options by scanning a code on their ticket, boarding pass, or baggage tag. The feature relies on AI-based computer vision technology, which uses sophisticated algorithms to analyze images and videos, delivering high precision in object and pattern recognition.
Air India plans to expand the app’s capabilities with future updates, including features like baggage dimension checks, passport scans, image-based destination searches, and augmented reality-based destination information. These enhancements are expected to roll out in the coming months.
Satya Ramaswamy, Air India's Chief Digital and Technology Officer, emphasized the capabilities of modern computer vision technologies, noting that they can match or even surpass human perception in recognizing patterns. This advancement can streamline data entry on mobile devices, simplifying operations and improving user convenience.
The launch of 'AEYE Vision' represents a significant move by Air India to harness advanced technology to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.
