Social Media Giants Stages a New Form of Action for ICC T20 World Cup!
BENGALURU: The upcoming T20 World Cup will mark the beginning of the season of excitement and enthusiasm as social media finds innovative and unique ways to keep cricket fans updated, reports Saba Haider from Techradar. Facebook and Instagram have teamed up with the International Cricket Council (ICC); assisting fans to connect with their favorite players, teams, other fans and publishers by sharing photos and videos online. Cricket enthusiasts can avail the opportunity by following @ICC on Instagram and liking the International Cricket Council page on Facebook.
The all new Facebook Live will stream live videos of over 50 post-match press conferences in real-time. The live feature will also include reviews, match analysis, player interviews, actions from behind the scenes, and many more. To keep cricket fans amazed throughout the tournament, Facebook has also introduced a new sticker pack and a Cricket Match-up, featuring memorable moments such as player celebrations, umpire calls, LBWs and catches. The sticker is a creative feature, allowing fans to express themselves.
Instagram will play a vital role in keeping up the positive vibe for cricket lovers. ICC has produced exclusive player imagery for the top cricketers across the globe associated with their official Instagram account. ICC will be working with different teams to share behind-the-scene moments and warm-up match videos including Chris Gayle’s (West Indies) training in Dubai, Hamilton Masakadza's (Zimbabwe) pitch side post during a match versus Ireland, Afghanistan fans cheering for their team in a match versus the Netherlands. Through Instagram, players will have the provision to stay connected with their fans to boost the level of excitement on the move.
Apart from the innovation offered by Instagram and Facebook, Google also has taken the initiative by launching a range of new cricket search features on the Google app. It will help the fans in India to stay glued with updates to various matches irrespective of their location. The search function features news articles based on players, teams and matches. It also includes score boxes with in-depth match analysis. The search engine giant states that cricket enthusiasts can ask the Google app about any kind of information related to the matches. For instance, if someone says "Ok Google, "When will India play against Pakistan?" the app will tell the exact date and time of the event. Or if they ask “When is the next match?" the app will show a schedule of the upcoming matches.
Cricket maniacs can buckle up and stay tuned with the daily intriguing action till the finals scheduled to be played on 3rd April at the Eden Garden’s stadium in Kolkata.
