Pay In Order To Save: Indian Computers Under Newest Malware Threat
BANGALORE: A new malware is making rounds in India checking the owners out of their private computers. Dubbed as ‘TeslaCrypt Ransomware’, this malware takes hold of the control of a computer system and doesn’t release unless a fixed ransom is paid, reports Tech2.
The ransom will double if it’s not paid in due date and till now two businessman from Agra were affected by this and had to pay a ransom, to take their computer free. Indian businessman from Agra, Sandeep Gupta,was asked to shell out $10,000 as ransom.
This virus targets the people who download games online, online consumers and even through business email attachments.
This is a pretty serious issue to be considered as this virus which was first detected in February 2015 infecting systems in Europe, Asia and USA and now India, till now not one solution has been called in.
The new version 2.0 is the upgrade is capable of mimicking a CryptoWall, this version no longer uses GUI to let the users know their files are encrypted. This is where it gets interesting, it open a page in your browser and lets you know that your files are encrypted and will be set free for a ransom, all this in an amicable message.
To avoid this people have to stop opening emails from unknown senders and should have an updated anti-malware software for protection.
