BENGALURU: Apple has started a new initiative to promote the locally made apps in India by highlighting it out on the Indian App store section.

The Made in India section is featured prominently on the App Store home page, featuring Apps, Games, Popular Services, and also lists Bollywood Beats and Southern Style soundtracks . The categories can be expanded to see all items or filtered to sort it by name or release date, and the Featured apps include NDTV, Hike Messenger, and Camera Plus. The games include Flick Tennis, Real Cricket 14 and Parking Frenzy India.

Two years ago till this date, Apple started the rupee pricing on the Indian App Store and after a month, the company got the iTunes Store to India. It allowed users in India to purchase music buy or rent movies with local content featured on it. Apple also brought the iBooks Textbooks section to India earlier this year which offered the iPad users textbooks in the full screen view with animations, 3D diagrams and many more on it.
