M&M's miniSMART- An Android Based App for Workshops

BANGALORE: Ever wondered, why don’t we use our Smartphone to diagnose the vehicles? Well, there are very few but those are put to use in the workshops out of India. Earlier this week, the Indian auto manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, launched an Android OS based cloud-enabled diagnostic solution for workshops. This new app is christened as miniSMART, reports TOI.

The miniSMART is a first of its kind in the country and is a perfect key for diagnostic solutions as it doubles as an Android app, wireless Bluetooth VCI and cloud support.

miniSMART is cost effective and is as reliable as old methods to troubleshoot vehicle systems. The new solution will replace all the expensive laptops and wired vehicle interface devices to wallet friendly Smartphones and wireless vehicle interface device that is backed with a cloud-based authentication.

During the launch of miniSMART, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive of Mahindra & Mahindra said, "At Mahindra we have always been committed to introducing newer technological innovations, in an endeavour to create an enriched user experience and provide better value to our customers. The launch of miniSMART is one such example."

Agreeing with President’s thoughts, Srinivas Aravapalli, the head vehicle systems and principal chief engineer at M&M said, "miniSMART, will empower Mahindra's highly-trained vehicle technicians to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot faults in various complex vehicle systems, thereby resulting in faster turnaround time of Mahindra vehicles at its workshops. Further, this will lead to a better ownership experience for Mahindra customers and a reduced lifetime ownership cost."
