Intel Launches 3 New Initiatives to Boost Digitization in India


BENGALURU: In an effort to buoy up digitization in India, Intel has recently announced three innovative initiatives to succor PM Modi's Digital India programme, reports ET.

The new slew of initiatives has been launched to realize the potential of government’s ambitious programme by delivering digital literacy to non-urban Indian population. These initiatives will expand the Digital India footprint by bringing innovation and will skill up the population at the grassroots level.

"We are thrilled to see the progress made through our collaboration with the government of India on various initiatives like 'Digital India' that are bringing technology and innovation mainstream in India," said Robby Swinnen, general manager, Intel Corporation (Asia-Pacific & Japan).

Intel India has e-launched its "Unnati Kendra at Common Service Centre" (UK at CSC) in Karnal that would support the purpose of "Ek Kadam Unnati Ki Aur" initiative to usher the access of technology to non-urban India. 

Digital literacy will be made available to the local masses at these CSCs. Currently, the technology company is looking forward to start with a network of 100 such to 100 'UK at CSC' in association within the government of India across 10 different states this year. Telgana is among the first states to have such 10 'UK at CSC' facilities. 

In addition to this, Intel India, working closely with the CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd., has also designed and hosted a website on the Internet called the "Digital Unnati". Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) can access guidelines to assemble PC online and other practical knowledge.

After the stimulating success of Intel and DST- Innovate for Digital India Challenge, the technology firm is also gearing up for the challenge later this year. The local innovation and entrepreneurship will gain momentum as participants from across the nation are anticipated to bring forward their technology solutions for real-life problems.
