Intel India Inaugurates AI DevCon to Fortify Its Pursuit of Creating AI-Ready Talent in India


Aspiring to create meaningful AI (Artificial Intelligence)-ready talent in India, Intel India inaugurated its first global AI DevCon on August 8, 2018 at Bangalore post the inaugural event in US, which commingles the intellectuals in data science, machine and deep learning, application development, and research. This pursuit of Intel India committed towards escalating the accessibility of AI tools across industries and galvanize computing is complemented by its strategic investments in developer education. For instance, Intel India has been training 99,000+ developers, students, and professors since April 2017 and also hosted AI Day in Bangalore in the same year to demonstrate the usage of deep learning, machine learning, and natural language processing solutions based Intel® architecture across e-Commerce, BFSI, cloud service provider, academia, developer communities.

“In April 2017, we committed to train 15,000 developers, students, and professors in AI. We have long surpassed our goal; today, over 99,000 people across more than 100 organizations have been engaged with, through relevant trainings and workshops. We have been able to accomplish this through our strong collaboration with the academia, government, and the private sector. This streak will continue as we engage with local platforms such as Analytics Vidhya, to train data scientists and developers,” asserted Prakash Mallya, Managing Director – Sales & Marketing Group, Intel India.

The AI DevCon event outclassed as a highly informative platform wherein 500+ developers shared updates on real-world applications of AI and its extended benefits. In addition, different speakers from Reliance Jio, Flipkart, Airtel, Amazon, Wipro, Microsoft, pi Venture and IIIT Hyderabad addressed a gamut of AI aspects right from the emergence of AI thinking & its capability to generate bulk revenues till the ethical facets & impact of technology on people. Entailing technical sessions & hands-on training on AI frameworks, real-world demos and talk tracks on cutting-edge research in AI, this event was also preceded by an AI developer workshop a day before, with handpicked 150 developers who delivered hands on experience in using the Intel Dev Cloud and optimized frameworks on Intel® architecture.

With plans to collaborate with companies like Philips, arya.ai, and Mphasis NEXT Labs to deploy its AI portfolio in the local landscape, Intel India also will endeavour to engage AI developers and startups in India via Intel® AI Academy and Intel® AI Builders Program.
