India To Witness Internet Of Things
BANGALORE: Tech Mahindra in alliance with Aeris Communications, a U.S. developer of machine-to-machine communications, launched an Internet of Things platform called Jumpstart IoT. Enterprise customers would be able to enjoy value added services supplied by the carriers via the Jumpstart IoT. The customers can further experience efficient systems that would deliver updates with the aid sensors and mobile network, reports NDTV.
Jagdish Mitra, Head Mobility Business and Large Deals, Tech Mahindra, commented on the company’s latest venture and how it would execute the Internet of Things idea. The approach of IoT would focus on the way the company views consumer level products and smart cities.
"The consumer market (for cellular networks) in India is a pretty mature market," Mitra said, "so today, the carriers need to sell to enterprise. For example, Airtel would want to sell a system that uses its network to a retail logistics company that would automate the tracking of their packages from start to finish."
"Jumpstart is our IoT platform, and it essentially allows the carriers to create value added services like that by connecting the sensors to the cloud," Mitra illustrated. "So we create the technology setup for Airtel, and they can then find the clients who have use cases for this and provide the necessary bandwidth."
Similarly, IoT can become efficient accessing the internet and inclusion of sensors in devices. The other side of this takes two circumstances into consideration, which eventually lead to the same outcome. Smart products respond to our demands before being ordered to do so or we could visualize smart cities where everything is interconnected to increase productivity.
What’s still intriguing is how the platform would execute on a large-scale. Mitra stated that the concept of smart city would be different across the globe.
"And the concept behind Jumpstart could bring about a real change in access to food in India," Mitra said on behalf of Tech Mahindra, which is in a process of keeping a check on the waste generated and storage of the harvest.
