How IoT Devices Can Enhance Manufacturing Industry

Currently, we live in an era in which smart devices is no more a luxury but a necessity, and these wireless devices have gained more traction when compared to its usage a few years back. New National Digital Communications Policy 2018 predicts that Indians would use five billion IoT devices by 2022. Thus, the manufacturing industry is no exception. Leveraging IoT, enables organizations to connect with other frequently used devices present in the organization which in turn would increase its productivity.  Manufacturing industries have witnessed a drastic transformation post the usage of IoT, aiding in data collection and analysis those data through IoT networked sensors.

Across the manufacturing industries, several machines are embedded with sensors, thus, it triggers automation. When a system breaks down, these embedded sensors would immediately alert the manufacturer by sending a message. Alongside, these IoT devices can predict if the system would suffer break downs any more, by using its high-quality built-in sensors. Furthermore, these sensors rely on surrounding temperature, machines' vibrations, and noise frequencies, to measure a normal working condition of the devices, by measuring these values, the sensors would estimate the working conditions of the machinery.

Generally, organizations adopt technology for such processes as they would cut down unnecessary expenditures, time and workforces, also, using the technology organizations could get accurate readings.

IoT devices also help in tracking locations, and this is considered the most prominent feature of IoT devices. This feature saves a lot of time and energy to the staffs who would manually find the equipment, tools, goods and more in the inventory, as the IoT device that is installed with location tracking sensor would help in tracking the required material in a fraction of time. Apart from this, the location tracking sensor mainly helps in goods that are brought to the inventory every day. When it comes to manufacturing unit, there would be tonnes of goods that drop in every single day. Locating and organizing these products manually, would drain a lot of energy and is also a time-consuming process which in turn would pull down the productivity of the staffs as well as the organizations. Thus, by adopting IoT and automating the daily operations, the organizations could enhance their overall efficiency and productivity.
