Google Maps' New Feature To Tag Restaurant Food Pictures
BANGALORE: Google Maps has a new, interesting, and delightful feature for foodies who indulge in the popular activity of clicking pictures of the dishes before digging in, reports Hindustan Times.
The feature, which is launched "level 3 and above" first, notifies users when Maps finds a newly clicked picture taken at a food-related place from their device, and consequently offers to attach a location to that picture.
The feature named ‘Photo Notifications’ is presently made available only to high-ranking members of ‘Local Guides’ community at Google Maps.
The feature is elaborated on a Google help page saying, “These notifications show up after you've taken a photo in public places that Google thinks are interesting to other people, like restaurants and bars. To get these notifications, you need Location History turned on."
The user will be notified if the location data embedded in a photo goes with a place that is suggested to Maps by the Location History using GPS.
Similar to the way Zomato works, each restaurant on Google Maps eventually will be followed by a vast photographic archive of the served meals and reviews on them.
Integrating Photography and its services, Google would be using Android notification for data acquisition.
However, it is yet not confirmed when the feature would be made available to the users.
