From iOS 1 to iOS 9: How Apple's iPhone OS has Evolved


iOS 4 - It provided a user experience like a truly post-PC device. Released on June 17, 2010, one of the biggest features of iOS 4 was the video chatting capability of FaceTime. iOS 4 came preinstalled with the iPhone 4 and iPad 2. The update introduced the option of having a background image, changing the look of the operating system dramatically, and allowed for multi-tasking in apps. Apple also introduced iBooks, which was the first time Apple offered native support for eBooks on iOS devices. Along with iBooks, a custom dictionary was added.
